Background

By SF Rec & Park: The Marina Improvement and Remediation Project, in collaboration with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), aims to clean up environmental pollution in the East Harbor, enhance the Marina Bay Trail, and improve accessibility to the Marina and surrounding park areas for public enjoyment. This initiative stems from a legal settlement approved by the Board of Supervisors between the City and PG&E regarding contamination in the East Harbor caused by PG&E’s predecessors.

We are currently in the detailed design, environmental review, and permitting phase for this project, and the final concept can be reviewed on page 17 of the Community Meeting #3 Presentation from December 5, 2024.
