- [1/6/2010] At the December 2, 2009 meeting of the new Board of Directors, the newly elected Board Secretary, Otto Stillwachs, requested that he transfer his office as Secretary to another Board member due to an injury. - [12/22/2008] Dredging of the West Harbor channel entrance and the outer jetty area were supposed to commence late September. Due to contractor issues and agency restrictions, it appears the work is now delayed until June 2009.

- [11/18/2008] SF Rec and Park has announced that “The contractor for dredging the entrance to the West Harbor, scheduled for this week, has reported that they will not meet our dredging schedule due to equipment failure. We have requested an extension of time to perform dredging due to this unforeseen situation. We are hopeful that the regulatory agencies will approve our request and allow the dredging to be done in December.”

- [6/11/2008] The California Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW) will consider approval of the final installment of West Harbor funding at their June 12 morning meeting to be held in Petaluma at the Sheraton Hotel, 745 Baywood Drive. DBW Commission meetings are open to the public, and you are encouraged to come out and support the project.

- [3/21/2008] Please plan to attend the BCDC Commission Meeting at 1:00 PM on May 1 at the Ferry Building, Second Floor, to voice your support for the reinstatement of the harbor’s ten year permit for sand-mining off of the outer breakwater. This involves reopening and dredging the pit to trap sand that comes into the bay and clogs the harbor entrance. There is no cost to us, as the dredger pays the Marina Harbor Trust Fund as it then resells the sand to contractors.

- [3/22/2007] We are also pleased to report that the Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”) on the SF Marina Harbor Renovation Project was approved on March 20, 2007 by an 8-3 vote of the SF Board of Supervisors.
- [3/9/2007] Although the Marina Harbor Renovation Project Environmental Impact Review (“EIR”) was adopted on Jan. 18, an appeal cited the need for dry storage of small boats. The SF Board of Supervisors will vote on the EIR on Tuesday, March 13 at 2 pm. There will be no opportunity for the public to speak. After the vote on the 13th, the Board will meet to discuss the next steps and set the agenda and date of our next General Meeting.

California. A public toll-free number, 1-866-440-9530 (available Monday-Friday from 8am-7pm), has been established to provide information on

primarily regarding the certification of the Draft
EIR, which has been postponed from November 2 to January
11, 2007. One Planning Department commissioner requested the postponement after
admitting she had not read the voluminous document (337 pages), and another
commissioner mentioned lobbying by the Sierra Club for
a delay.
